1
Politics is a special type of social activity that is aimed at regulating public life. It differs from other spheres of public life in that it is connected with relations about power. And power is always a social phenomenon, because it arises in society and involves a special form of relationship between the ruling and subordinates.
2
Society by its nature is asymmetric and combines various interests and leads to a clash of different social groups and struggle with each other. Today, political development trends are largely due to various forms of interaction of social groups (competition, cooperation or struggle). The policy is designed to prevent the "war of all against all" and ensure the constructive development of society.
3
The purpose of political power as the core of politics is the expression of various group interests, their integration and regulation. On the one hand, politics ensures the domination of some social groups over others, and on the other, it unites them on the basis of public interest and a system of priorities. Therefore, politics is often interpreted as the art of living together. The decisive role of politics for ensuring social stability lies in the development of rules of behavior and activity acceptable to all groups.
4
The policy is implemented at various levels - economic, institutional, legal, etc. Its feature is the property of inclusiveness, i.e. penetration into all spheres of public life due to the possession of special resources. On the other hand, any social interaction takes on a political character when it affects the organization and mobilization of resources necessary to achieve the goals of a certain community.
5
Politics performs a number of socially significant functions. Among them are the management of public life and the determination of the strategic directions of economic and social development. The prognostic function is closely connected with this function, which involves the analysis of the prospects for the development of society and, on the basis of this, adjustments to public administration. The ideological function is aimed at the formation of public consciousness and a certain political culture, the dissemination of values and ideals. In turn, they must integrate and organize society to solve important social problems. Ideology also serves to legitimize the actions of political actors. Finally, politics fulfills the function of socialization, i.e. the inclusion of the individual in public life.
