On October 2, 2010, Barack Hussein Obama, US President, extended the ban on the sale of balalaika for another ten years. Incredibly, it is legal to buy a balalaika in the United States for more than 70 years.

For the first time, a ban on balalaikas for a period of ten years was signed by US President Franklin Roosevelt in 1940. And starting from this time, this document is constantly being extended.
Until 2000, this ban did not apply to the state of Alaska, where the balalaika is considered to be a truly traditional musical instrument, however, Bill Clinton expanded the law to this territory.
Why such dislike for this harmless instrument? The formal reason is the ban of balalaika in tsarist Russia. The Orthodox Church and the state have banned the sale of this national instrument because it supposedly allows people to "mock and mock the current government." In the USSR, this restriction was lifted.
In fact, the ban on the sale of balalaika in the US is a return move. Until 1954, the USSR did not allow cowboy hats to be sold on its territory. In the Soviet Union, this ridiculous prohibition law was repealed, and in the United States it is still valid.
Nevertheless, in the USA this law is not fully preserved today. You can play the balalaika, but you need to purchase a special license for this. You can’t sell and make balalaikas in bulk, but solo private sales are still allowed.
Americans are sitting overseas and cannot enjoy the sounds of balalaika, and the ridiculous law is to blame for everything, there are many of them in the country of victorious democracy.
