Now, when many residents of Russia have constant access to the Internet, where you can use e-mail and social networks, ordinary paper letters seem archaic. However, quite a lot of people still send letters in envelopes. And how insulting it is if the letter does not reach the addressee. Why is this happening?

The letter may not reach the addressee for various reasons. The first is the incorrect spelling of the recipient address. In the case of an incorrect spelling of the index, before the letter at best wandered from one post office to another, and did not always reach the addressee, or simply returned to the sender. If the index was completely absent, then the postal workers either added it themselves, or they could send the letter further with only one address. But now, modern electronic sorting equipment simply will not miss letters with an incorrectly written index or without it, and correspondence will be sent back to the sender.
In the case of incorrect spelling of the address, everything is clear - the address is not indicated, the letter did not reach. Moreover, this will happen even if you forgot to indicate only the apartment number. The postman will not look for Vasya Ivanov in the whole house, who lives in one of a couple of hundred apartments! The letter in this case will be returned to you.. Write the address in detail, legibly and in accordance with the rules. First, the street is written, the house number of the apartment, below is the city, below is the region, region or republic. And if ordinary letters do not pay too much attention to the incorrect order of the lines, then a custom one with an incorrectly filled address will simply not let you send it.
Postmen are also living people and sometimes make mistakes, for example, they can confuse house 22/12 with house 12/22. Or the address 15-25, which usually means house 15, apartment 25, regarded as 15/25, and the letter addressed to you will be in another house, and there is no guarantee that the people who received it will bring a letter to you.
In the end, our mailboxes are imperfect. It’s good if you have your own home. But residents of high-rise buildings often encounter broken, old boxes in which anyone can climb into. There is a way out - to have a post office box at the post office, or ask friends to send a registered letter instead of the usual one. It will not reach your inbox, you will receive it in the mail in person.
But with registered letters, not everything is so smooth. A notice is brought to the addressee, but they are not personally handed over, but thrown into the mailbox, therefore it may be lost. And if within a month you do not pick up your registered letter, it will be returned back due to the expiration of the storage period.
If the letter is delayed, you can control its delivery using the official website of the Russian Post www.russianpost.ru. Refer to the sections: “Tracking of mailings”, “Quality control and search of mailings”.
