On August 9, 2012, a concert of the famous singer Madonna took place in St. Petersburg as part of her world tour in support of the album "MDNA". Often her concerts look provocative in the eyes of the public. And the performance in Russia was no exception. With regard to compensation for moral damage from the event, more than 150 claims have already been filed with the Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg.
Firstly, at the concert, the singer spoke in support of the girls from the group Pussy Riot, now convicted, and then awaiting a court verdict for the punk prayer held in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. She came out with the inscription Pussy Riot on her back and said that she was praying for the band members.
She also danced on the cross. And this, according to some, falls under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation as a criminal offense related to inciting religious hatred. In this regard, Orthodox activists accuse the singer of disrespect for the Christian religion.
The Parental Control public organization in St. Petersburg complained to the Investigative Committee. According to representatives of the organization, Madonna conducted propaganda of homosexuality in the presence of minors, which violated the legislation of the northern capital. This is due to the fact that at the concert she handed out pink bracelets, then asked the audience to put them on and raise their hands up, thereby demonstrating support for sexual minorities.
In addition to the public organization Parental Control, the New Great Russia and the Trade Union of Russian Citizens expressed their complaints about the concert. They filed lawsuits demanding to recover 333 million rubles from the organizers of the concert and the singer herself.
If Madonna is found guilty in accordance with complaints, entry into Russia will be closed for her. Now it all depends on whether St. Petersburg investigators discover the crime in the artist’s actions.
