Patsy Kensit is an English-born actress who starred both in her homeland and in Hollywood. Among other things, she played in the legendary action movie Deadly Weapon 2 (1989). In addition, in the eighties, Patsy Kensit became famous as the soloist of the musical group Eighth Wonder.

Parents of the future star
Patsy Kensit was born on March 4, 1968 in London. Her father's name was James Henry. It is known about him that for some time he was in prison and was closely connected with the criminal world (in particular, he was a companion of the Cray twin brothers - the famous English gangsters). Mother (her name is Margaret Rose Duhan) worked as a journalist.
It is interesting that Patsy's parents lived in a civil marriage for many years and formalized their relationship only in 1986.
First roles
Patsy began acting in early childhood. She first appeared on TV in an advertisement for frozen peas Birds Eye in 1972 (that is, at that time she was about four years old). Moreover, in the same 1972, the girl appeared in a big movie - in the film “For the Love of Hell”.
Two years later, Patsy participated in the filming of The Great Gatsby with the famous actress Mia Farrow in the lead roles. Patsy herself played here such a character as Pammy Buchanan.
In the early eighties, she appeared in several fairly well-known projects from the BBC. In 1981, in a mini-series based on the novel by Charles Dickens, "Great Expectations, " Patsy Kensit played Estella in her youth. And a year later, in 1982, she played the role of Margaret Plantagenet in the television adaptation of Shakespeare's play "The Tragedy of Richard III." Kensit has also been featured on BBC's children's television programs The Adventures of Pollyanna (1982) and Moon (1983). Moreover, in the “Moon” she played the central character - the girl the Moon, living in a non-standard and sometimes dangerous world of the future.
Further creativity
In 1986, Patsy also announced herself as a singer. She became the vocalist of the English pop group Eighth Wonder.
Many songs of this group in the second half of the eighties were popular throughout Europe. Examples include songs like "Stay With Me", "When the Phone Stops Ringing", "I'm Not Scared". It is worth noting that the last song was written and produced by the famous English pop duo Pet Shop Boys. And, in fact, she became the main hit of Eighth Wonder.
However, already in 1988, Patsy left the pop group and again focused on her acting career.
In 1989, she played in the movie "Lethal Weapon 2". Here she got the role of Secretary of the Consulate of South Africa in the United States, Ricky Van Den Haas. In the course of the plot, one of the main characters falls in love with Riku - Martin Riggs (he, as many remember, was played by Mel Gibson).

After a pretty successful duet with Gibson, Patsy appeared in the drama "Twenty-One Years." Her character here is called Katie. Katie is a young girl on whose behalf, in fact, the story is being narrated: she talks about her life and her sexual partners. For this role, Kensit was ultimately nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in the Best Actress nomination.
In 1992, the actress participated in the filming of the British comedy "The Messenger is to Blame." Here she played Caroline Wright - a realtor, ready to do just about anything to conclude a profitable deal for herself.
In 1995, Kensit starred with Mark Rylance and Kristin Scott Thomas in the drama about the morals of Victorian England, "Angels and Insects." Interestingly, this film was even nominated for an Oscar in the Costume Design category.
Over the next few years, Kensit had virtually no noticeable roles in film and TV. On the other hand, it could still be seen in some projects - in the series "The Last Don 2" (1998), in the films "The Man-Bomb" (1998), "In Chasing a Dream" (1999), "On the Other Side" of the sun "(2001).

Since 2007, Patsy began to play nurse Faye Morton in the television series "Holby City". In total, she played this role for about three years - until 2010.
In 2008, Kensit took part in the British documentary series Genealogy of the Family. This project explores the genealogical trees of celebrities, and in one of the episodes it was Kensit who became the main character. Moreover, this episode has become one of the highest rated in the history of the series - more than 7 million viewers watched it.
In September 2010, Kensit was announced as a contestant in the English dance show "Strictly Come Dancing" ("Dancing with the Stars"). Her partner here was professional dancer Robin Windsor.
On January 7, 2015, Kensit, along with other famous personalities, took part in another television show - "Celebrity Big Brother". However, already 21 days after the launch, she dropped out of the project.
