Otari Kvantrishvili is still one of the most controversial figures of the criminal world of the 90s. Despite the obvious connections with criminal elements, many cultural figures and entrepreneurs who have not violated the law still speak with warmth about him.

It can be very likely to say that for a certain part of Muscovites the expression “blood bath” does not associate with Stockholm of the 16th century, but with the Krasnopresnensky baths of Moscow at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Here, not so long ago, a lead point was put in the biography of Aslan Usoyan, known in criminal circles as the omnipotent "Grandfather Hassan." But by this time, the killings of criminal authorities no longer surprised anyone. And the death of Otari Kvantrishvili in 1994, the investigation of which lasted for a decade, opened a long account of gangster "showdowns" and contract killings.
The "order" was carried out by the famous professional killer Lesha Soldier. From the track record of the latter it is known that he was a man of Sylvester, who controlled the Medvedkov group in the capital. Only after death did the details of the shadow life of Otari Kvantrishvili begin to reveal itself to the public. Prior to that, he was known as Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, founder of the Lev Yashin Foundation, initiator of creation and recognized leader of the party of Russian athletes. This did not prevent, or perhaps contributed, at the same time behind the scenes to control the domestic mafia, the "lawlessness" characteristic of corruption-infiltrated and high-profile contract killings of the Yeltsin 90s.
Youth
Young Kvantrishvili did not want to follow in the footsteps of his father, who worked as a machinist in the capital’s depot, he was not attracted to work and life from salary to salary.. Already at the age of 18 he was awaited by the first criminal case under article 117 of the Criminal Code. The real term was seven years in prison. Otari went to jail. But after less than five years, he was transferred to the Lublin psychiatric hospital to cure "sluggish schizophrenia." Such a beginning usually did not allow to make a "thieves' career", but not in this case.
The adventurous and quirky nature of Otari with the beginning of perestroika helps him organize his business. By the 90th year, he - co-owner of many companies, among which the most powerful - "Association of the 21st Century."
Criminal career
Otari Vitalievich joins in political upheavals and at the same time becomes a prominent representative of shadow structures.
With the support of Caucasian friends, including Pipia Tomaz, Valery Kuchuloriya (Peso), Givi Beradze (Rezany), he very soon became the leader of the clan in the fight against Slavic groups. Not recognizing the established “concepts, ” the Caucasians endowed the powers of leaders at their discretion, including “not trampling the zone, ” and squeezed the “local”. The nationalist background covered the bandit redistribution of financial and trade spheres of influence. According to some political scientists, the Georgian government supported the war of factions, creating favorable conditions in Moscow for the promotion of their fellow tribesmen. It is believed that it was precisely the attempt to resist the pressure imposed from Georgia that played a fatal role in the fate of Otari.
Founded in conjunction with Anzor Kikashvili, the "Association of the 21st Century" was the pride of Otari. Anzor, who graduated from the institute of physical education in the capital and the diplomatic academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, was a Komsomol and party functionary who was in charge of sports events. Their alliance with Otari in 1989 turned out to be very productive when the first became president, the second - vice president of the Association.
By this time, Kvantrishvili had acquired in Barvikha the former dacha of Marshal of the USSR Savitsky. For the modest house where Otari liked to spend time, in criminal circles the name "den of the beast" was fixed. A fundamentally modest atmosphere, a second-hand Vidic, and a battered Lada - that was the way it was in the mid-90s. Only two guard dogs were magnificent, the “remnants of luxury” from a dog’s sweepstake, the owner’s former hobby - a huge mastiff and a Caucasian shepherd match him.
At one time, Otari was a member of the group of Gennady Kharkov (Mongol) and his henchman Vyacheslav Ivankov (Jap). The task of Otari and Amiran was to provide cover for the "big game" of cards, which was held within the walls of the Sovetskaya Hotel.
But the real "finest hour" was provided by Otari, President of the Russian Federation Yeltsin, who provided him with patronage and support. Created with his easy hand, the National Sports Center had unimaginable benefits and preferences.
About 2.5 trillion. rubles of state funds were allocated for the construction of the Center and were successfully “laundered” by the Otari group.
