Starting conditions
Forward Kiev Dynamo was born on November 5, 1952 in a sports family. Parents lived in Kiev. My father headed the Federation of the Soviet Union in modern pentathlon. Mother, a master of sports in athletics, was engaged in long jumps and pentathlon. The boy grew up strong-willed, collected and physically strong. Mostly, his mother worked with him. Prepared him for a professional career in sports. Oleg already in school years showed good results in short-distance running. But the boy was attracted to the game of football.
When Oleg was nine years old, he enrolled in the children's section of football, which operated at the Dynamo club. Getting there was not easy. But Blokhin passed all the tests, and began to seriously train. For several years he played for the club’s youth team. In November 1969, Blokhin first entered the field as part of the main team of Dynamo Kyiv. Analysts noted the player’s progress. For a short period of time he developed the technique of possession of the ball and mastered the tactics of the game. Slender in complex Oleg easily beat more massive rivals.
In the professional league
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, the USSR team took third place. In this tournament, Blokhin scored six goals. In the 1973 season, Blokhin was recognized as the best footballer of the Soviet Union. Possessing a bright gaming personality, Oleg remained the team members and clearly interact with his partners. Accordingly, they, knowing the speed characteristics of the attacker, tried to give him a timely pass, so that he would quickly break through to the gates of others. This tactic was one of many in the arsenal of Dynamo.
At the European Cup tournament, in a game with Bayern Munich, Oleg Blokhin scored the only goal using the tried-and-true scheme. When the Bavarians arrived in Kiev with a return match, Blokhin “hammered” two goals into the goal of “Bavaria”. Dynamo Kyiv brilliantly won the European Cup in 1975. In the same season, he received the honorary European Golden Ball prize. In the summer of 1989, Blokhin played his final match. After completing a player’s career, he worked as a coach for many years. In this field, he had impressive successes, but failures also occurred.
