Starting conditions
Svetlana Aleksandrovna Masterkova was born January 17, 1968 in a simple Soviet family. Parents at that time lived in the small town of Achinsk. The child grew and developed in a favorable environment. The girl was most seriously prepared for an independent life. From an early age, she helped her grandmother around the house and in the garden. I dug up beds, planted seeds, watered, struggled with weeds. Svetlana learned from her own experience how people live with their personal households.
At school, Masterkova studied well, but there were not enough stars from the sky. I found a common language with classmates. She took part in amateur performances and public life. I did not attend physical education classes regularly, because in those years I didn’t have enough sportswear. The girl’s predisposition to athletics was noticed by an experienced trainer. It is interesting to note that Svetlana in her thoughts did not hold the dream of a sports career. Mentor made considerable efforts to convince her and begin training.
Injuries and records
In the athletics section, Masters was noticeably distinguished by her physical data. At city and regional competitions, she showed excellent results. Specialists objectively assessed the athlete’s potential. In 1987, Svetlana moved to the capital and began to train with the famous coach Yakov Yelyanov. Creativity, systematic and hard work brought the expected results. In 1991, Masterkova became the champion of the Soviet Union at a distance of 800 meters.
Over the next three years, Svetlana was harassed. It should be noted that for this reason, many talented athletes, as they say, go out of the race. Masterkova had to make serious efforts to recover and re-enter the treadmill. In 1996, the entire sports world looked at the Russian runner. At the Olympic Games in the American city of Atlanta, she won two gold medals and set as many world records. Until now, these achievements remain "not beaten."
