The first step towards recovery was the understanding that the attack by the robbers was not aimed specifically at her. It’s just that Kelly was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Understanding was the first stone in getting rid of all hostile feelings overwhelming her.
According to McGillis, who became victims of violence after someone, even for seconds, took control of someone else's life, it is hardly possible to fully recover.
