The most long-awaited victory went to the Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who received his first own Oscar statuette. The actor was awarded the prize for the excellently played male role in the film "Survivor". Recall that this was the sixth attempt by the actor to receive the cherished Oscar statuette.
Other results of the Oscar were quite predictable and logical. So, the best film was the historical thriller "In the Spotlight", which reveals the whole truth about the complexity of journalistic work. The film by Tom McCarthy took its base from the real events that happened with the editors of Boston newspapers in 2002.
The best actress was Bree Larson, who played a major female role in the film "Room". Like DiCaprio, Larson received the Golden Globe Award in January for the same film.
The best animated feature film was the family-run animated film "Puzzle" about an eleven-year-old girl in whose head emotions live.
The most nominated film was the tape “Mad Max: The Road of Fury”, which won awards, although not the main ones, in six nominations.
As for the Russian applicants for the Oscar, they, unfortunately, were left without awards this year. So, the short animated film “We Can't Live Without Outer Space” almost reached the nomination. She was ahead of the Chilean cartoon "Bear Story".
