The childhood and youth of the writer
Latsis Vilis was born in May 1904 in the Riga region of Latvia. In the early years, he lived for some time with his parents in Siberia, where he was educated at the seminary of teachers in Barnaul. After returning to his native land, he had labor experience as a port laborer, a fireman on a ship, and not only. He also worked in the library. Since the late 30s, he began working in the newspaper. At the same time, his career as a writer began. Latsis quickly achieves popularity and soon receives an offer to become Minister of the Interior of the Latvian Soviet Republic. Then he becomes the Head of Government and remains in this position for almost 20 years.
