People usually want to get rid of old books before moving, after repairs, buying new furniture, and simply when they occupy free space. Sometimes it’s a pity to just throw away old books and I want them to fall into safe hands.

Instruction manual
1
If the books are very old, they can be returned to the waste paper collection point. After all, books are spent paper, felled trees, so it’s good when they can be recycled and put into business again. Such waste paper can simply be taken for recycling, or they can even pay little money for it. It makes sense to get rid of old books in this way when it is already impossible to read them, books have lost their shape, faded or completely lost their meaning in modern society.
2
Take the books to the library. This is the most acceptable and popular way to get rid of old books. True, before going to the library you need to call there and ask what kind of literature they accept. The fact is that even libraries cannot accommodate the entire number of various books, so they are forced to make restrictions. You will be pleased to receive the most popular genres of books: detective stories, classics, science fiction and fantasy. City libraries also accept educational literature with pleasure, if the matter does not concern old school textbooks - you can try to hand them over to the school library.
3
Books for the library should be in good condition, it is best to glue them yourself, if they need it. Bring interesting books to the library that you would like to read yourself, and not the politicized literature of past years.
4
You can donate books to your friends or donate them to charitable organizations, such as an orphanage or nursing home. Usually they don’t refuse such offerings, but the same rule applies here as for libraries: books for charity should look decent and should not be too old.
5
Take part in bookcrossing promotions. This is an exchange of books in which any resident of the city can take part. You just need to find places for such an exchange of books, bring your own there and you can choose someone else's book. However, you need to bring only interesting books that have been published relatively recently. Bookcrossing is not a place to exchange waste paper.
6
If you want to give away books for free, write an ad on bulletin boards and websites selling used things or on social networks about which books you have. Surely there are those who want to pick them up. In addition, they themselves will take these books, you do not have to go anywhere and carry heavy publications.
7
On the same bulletin boards and social networks, you can advertise the sale of old books. This is especially true for those who have valuable rare books. If you know an antique or second-hand bookshop in the city, you can arrange a sale there too.
