Sometimes on the street you can meet black-haired girls or boys dressed in all black, with beveled bangs, with badges and a bag over their shoulders. These people belong to a youth subculture based on a love of music of the same style. To better understand what emo looks like and who they are, you need to better study the very essence of the issue.

The story and the real emo
In the eighties, a musical direction called emocore arose in the USA. It was a kind of offshoot from hard rock. That is, initially emo is music, and later the style itself appeared. The first emo considered themselves to be “true, ” they exist to this day, but in smaller quantities, since the fashion for the style is changeable and fleeting. Tru-emo do not drink alcohol, are vegetarians, do not smoke, do not take drugs and dress in checkered clothes. They listen to music exclusively on vinyl records or cassette players.
Emo prefer music with sharp transitions to high notes. Texts in compositions are usually filled with some kind of deep meaning and try to “hurt the living.” The meaning of music is usually about pain, death and love. Emo love to write music and songs on their own. In addition, they try to splash out their feelings with feelings in other works. For example, through photography, this is one of their favorite activities. Real emos are usually bisexual, piercing themselves, as if showing that they are not afraid of death and pain.
Emo in everyday life
Those emos that can be seen every day on the street are usually ordinary imitators. It is generally accepted that emo just cry and nothing more. In fact, everything is somewhat different - they do not hesitate to show any of their emotions in public: both negative and positive. A real emo, splashing out his feelings on people, is not afraid of condemnation from others.
By and large, to be emo, it is not at all necessary to dress in certain clothes and follow some kind of fashion. Emo is also some kind of internal state. And vice versa, if a person was hung up with badges and put on something black and pink, but does not have the correct internal state, then he may not belong to this subculture. It was because of the imitators that this trend turned into fashion, but the fashion is fleeting and when it passes, only true adherents will remain.
