The plot focuses on a young couple traveling in the mountains of Georgia. A fun trip with national color changes the course of events after an accidental meeting. The main characters are forced to take a fresh look at their relationship and rethink what it means to them love and trust.
The Brazilian Eduard Nunes for the full-length debut film "Southwest" was awarded the prize for best director and prize in the amount of three hundred thousand rubles. Long felt plans and close attention to detailing the frame makes it clear that the film was shot in the best traditions of Tarkovsky. The film tells about a special perception of time and the power of imagination, Claris, the main character, lives a lifetime in one day, although the people around her remain unchanged.
The Grand Prix of the Mirror Festival went to Sergei Loznitsa with the film In the Fog. This is the second movie to come from Cannes. The main prize of the Zerkalo festival and a cash prize of nine hundred thousand rubles became a good addition to the Cannes prize of the international association of film critics FIPRESCI.
The film "In the Fog" was shot based on the play of the same name by Vasil Bykov. The action takes place in 1942 in the occupied by the Nazis of Belarus. Fallen under suspicion of sabotage, the main character of Sushenka is "a stranger among his own." The Germans let him go, but no one - neither the villagers nor his wife trust him. The main question of the film is whether Sushchenya will be able to stay true to herself, her homeland and loved ones.
