A picture is not a photograph; it is born under the gaze of an artist. As he sees, so will the landscape. Nikolai Krymov is a Russian artist from the classics who left an invaluable legacy to descendants.

Childhood and youth
Future artists are not trained in drawing classes at the school. Classes with a brush and paints are useful for the development of the eye and coordination of movements. But if a child shows talent, then he can go to an art school. It is very important to teach a person from an early age to see the world around him figuratively and vividly, to understand his material beauty. Without this understanding, drawing will turn into empty chores. The famous Soviet artist Nikolai Petrovich Krymov mastered the skills of drawing at home, in the lessons that his father taught him.
The future painter was born on May 2, 1884, the eleventh child in the family of a professional artist. Twelve children grew up in the house. Parents at that time lived in Moscow. Father painted portraits to order. He worked a lot, but earnings were modest. Mother was engaged in housekeeping and raising children. The family early noticed the ability of Nicholas to draw. In order not to attract teachers from outside, the father himself was engaged in the basics of painting with his youngest son. In 1904, Nikolai graduated from a real school and entered the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
Professional activity
Krymov received a specialized education in the walls, where already famous painters taught. The novice artist listened to the advice and instructions of Valentin Serov, Leonid Pasternak, Apollinaria Vasnetsov. At that time, a wide variety of trends in art became widespread in Russia. Some artists were carried away by impressionism, others by the avant-garde, and others by modernism. Nikolai Petrovich also did not escape the influence of fashion trends. For some time he painted landscapes and still lifes in the style of symbolism. However, he soon developed his own style of writing, close to realism.
Krymov considered the artist Isaac Levitan his main teacher. It is unfortunate that this painter passed away too soon. His paintings depicting landscapes of the middle Russian strip remain a model for young creators. Nikolai Petrovich at a certain stage in his work imitated his teacher. The influence of a genius is very difficult to resist. However, at the end of his life, Krymov half-jokingly and half-seriously remarked that he could draw only bushes and fences, but he did it better than anyone.
