The festival of the Holy Trinity, celebrated annually in the summer, is known not only to church-believing Orthodox Christians. This day is also known to those who, for one reason or another, do not attend church so often. In Russian culture, the Day of the Holy Trinity is marked by various traditions.
The feast of the Holy Trinity itself, which is one of the twelve major Christian celebrations, is not fixed under a certain number. In this regard, the dating of the holiday may be different - it is rolling. The time of the celebration of Holy Trinity Day depends on the date of Easter.
Otherwise, the Day of the Holy Trinity is called Pentecost. The name itself indicates the time when the Church majestically glorifies the One God in three Persons. Holy Trinity Day is celebrated on the fiftieth day after Easter. This holiday is annually on Sunday.
In 2016, Holy Trinity Day falls on June 19th (since Easter was celebrated on May 1st). At Pentecost, a believer tries to start his day by attending a worship service. On the morning of June 19, 2016, a special solemn festive service will be held in Orthodox churches. After the service of the liturgy, a festive Vespers is served in the House of God, at which the priest recites kneeling prayers. In the text of prayers, God asks for the grace of the Holy Spirit for each person. It is known from the Holy Scriptures that it was on the Fiftieth day after the resurrection of Christ that the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles and the Most Holy Theotokos.
The day of the Holy Trinity is otherwise called the birthday of the Church of Christ.
It is especially worth noting that often the Holy Trinity Day is attributed to the commemoration of the deceased and a mandatory visit to the burial places of others. In fact, on Sunday, dedicated to the celebration of Holy Trinity Day, there is no need to go to the cemetery. On the holiday itself, the deceased did not commemorate the service. Holy Trinity Day - the triumph of living people. Prayer for the departed is supposed to be a charter on the eve of the celebration - on Troitsky parental Saturday. It is the Sabbath before the Trinity that is the time when a person can and should devote his day to the memory of the dead.
