From 1988 to 1996, Kim starred in more than 20 films. In 1997, the actress was invited to play the role of sexual and ambitious Samantha Jones in the series Sex and the City. Having agreed, Kim does not even suspect that the picture will change her life. Literally in one season, the series gains popularity around the world and becomes a cult for many years. After the release of the second picture, Kim Cattrall officially declares that she will never return to the role of Samantha Jones. Sarah Jessica Parker, who played in the series and film Kerry Bradshaw, accuses the actress of "star sickness" and greed.
In the English talk show Life Stories, Kim Cattrall explains the reason for her departure from Sex and the City, that her character is obsolete, and that she herself is tired of the image of Samantha Jones.
