Biography
For twenty-seven years, the Franks lived under the rule of the great Pepin of Geristalsky. Since the death of the sovereign sovereign, the descendants of the king started internecine battles for the right to own the crown of Meroving. Karl Martell was an illegitimate son and did not have the rights for which the legitimate sons of Pepin fought.
Karl was held in prison, where his rivals put him after the death of the ruler Pipin, but in 716 he managed to escape. Having gathered like-minded people and associates into one strong army, Karl began his ascension to power. Bloody battles were not in vain, he managed to seize the Gallic province of Neustria. Chronicles of the time report that Australia was under his command, Karl ruled it as a ward mayor.

The year 720 is crucial for the Franks - Carl made a successful attempt to unite Gaul and form a state. He accepted the challenge of the enemies and won the battle in Soissons, after which he was called the "leader of the Franks."
In those days, the authority of power reigned, any united territory was subjected to raids and plunder of the stronger. Karl had to show remarkable willpower and talent as a statesman in order to protect external borders. He went on to strengthen his military strength by distributing land and church property to soldiers. Karl appointed archbishops of illiterate and rude fighters to the highest spiritual posts who wielded the sword perfectly and won the battle for the land.
The best warriors were the Germans, who willingly tried on church clothes on iron armor.
Such a policy was not approved by the leaders of the Christian church, but it was precisely these radical steps of Karl to strengthen power that subsequently saved Europe from death.
The country was threatened by the Muslim invasion of the Arabs, under whose rule by that time was the entire territory of modern Spain. Having occupied all the lands of Gibraltar, the Moors made their predatory raids deep into Christian Europe, enriching and oppressing ordinary people with impunity.
The main enemy of Karl Martell was the Arab Abd al-Rahman. Under green flags, with the name of the prophet on hot lips, Muslims destroyed everything that Christians created. In 732, the city of Bordeaux was burned. Then the duke Evdon stepped over his pride and turned to Carl for help.
So the famous battle of Poitiers took place, in which the troops of the Franks led by Karl Martell won and defeated the Muslim hordes.
The date of the battle is October 732, when for several days without stopping people belonging to two irreconcilable religions destroyed each other.
