From the biography of Karen Hovhannisyan
The future actor, director and producer was born on June 26, 1978 in the city of Gyumri (Armenia). Karen’s childhood passed here. He attended ordinary high school. Having received a certificate, he entered the philological faculty of the university. His specialty is Armenian language and literature.
Hovhannisyan has no special cinematic education. However, behind his shoulders - six-month courses of directors in the capital of Armenia. The graduate work of the novice master was the short film "The door to you."
Having received the first directorial skills, Hovhannisyan decided to try his luck in Mosca. Here he attended advertising courses. Its leader was Yuri Grymov. Karen refused the opportunity to go to college. The reason is simple: a citizen of Armenia could not expect that he would be allowed to study on a budgetary basis.
Hovhannisyan showed his thesis work to director Vladimir Motyl. Having familiarized with it, the master recommended Hovhannisyan not to waste time on formal education, but to immediately start working and realize his creative potential.

The work of Karen Hovhannisyan
Countdown of the creative biography of Hovhannisyan should be conducted since 2003. Karen dreamed of becoming a director, but he still had to start with editing and advertising. Before starting to create his own films, Karen spent time combining the source records into a single whole.
To establish itself in the world of cinema, the young director was helped by an event. Ruben Dishdishyan, who was managing the Central Partnership project at the time, gave Hovhannisyan the opportunity to create his first film. It was the tape "I stay" (2006). Critics praised this work. The stars of Russian cinema starred in the film: Andrei Krasko, Nelly Uvarova, Fedor Bondarchuk, Vladimir Epifantsev, Galina Polskikh, Elena Yakovleva. The painting won the prize of the Golden Apricot festival, which was held in Yerevan.
Two years later, Karen removes the crime thriller Domovoy. Prominent actors were invited to participate in the project: Vladimir Mashkov, Konstantin Khabensky, Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, Chulpan Khamatova.
In 2010, Hovhannisyan began work on the second season of the Zhurov series. This multi-part detective was shown on Channel One. In 2011, the film "Five Brides" was released, for which director Oganesyan was awarded the Golden Rook Prize at the Window to Europe festival.
