Our hero was lucky to live in an era of change. The possessor of a strong character and enormous willpower did not get scared when he encountered difficulties. It is difficult to overestimate Satpayev’s contribution to the science of Kazakhstan - the land of nomads has turned into an industrialized country.
Childhood
Kanysh was born in March 1899. Aul, in which his father Imantay lived, did not even have a name. The village was located in Pavlodar district. The happy parent himself came from the Suyindyk clan of the Argyn tribe and was highly respected among his fellow tribesmen. His family was small - his wife and three children.
Parents of Kanysh Satpayev
Satpaev's heirs did not know the need. Parents wanted them to join civilization. In 1909, Kanysh went to a local school. After finishing three classes, he went to Pavlodar, where he entered the Russian-Kazakh school. The boy was drawn to new knowledge, therefore, having received a diploma in 1914, he announced that he would continue his education at a teacher’s seminary in Semipalatinsk. At home, a scandal erupted, because the guy's relatives professed Islam. This did not stop the teenager.

Youth
Our rebel successfully passed the exams and started his studies. He had to survive, not counting on the help of his relatives, which affected his health. The young man fell ill with tuberculosis. The unfortunate found the strength to pass exams externally, and in 1918 he began to prepare for admission to the Tomsk Technological Institute. After a few months, the guy realized that he needed to be treated. He returned to his native village to improve his health.

At home, the arrival of Kanysh was pleased. Religious disagreements receded into the background. The father sent his son to be treated in Bayanaul, where they prepared the famous healing koumiss. As soon as Imantay learned that the young man was recovering, he sent him a bride. The wedding was played according to ancient traditions. The husband gave her husband three children.
Educator
The troubles associated with health and personal life took a lot of time. This caused annoyance at Kanysh Satpayev, because in his native settlement and at the resort he observed a catastrophic picture - most of the children were illiterate. He did not know the Russian language, and literature in Kazakh did not exist. To correct the situation, our hero took up the compilation of the first textbook on algebra in his native language for himself and his compatriots.
Kanysh Satpayev
The country was undergoing tremendous changes. In 1920, Satpayev was elected chairman of the Kazkultprosvet in Bayanaul, often he was assigned the duties of a judge. The following year, our hero met with geologist Mikhail Usov, who came to Kazakhstan to relax. Kanysh became interested in the science of minerals and was able to enter Tomsk University. He was often ill, so he mastered most of the course outside the school. This did not hinder the successful completion of the university in 1926 and the qualification of a mining engineer.
Luck
Fortune played a significant role in the biography of our hero. His first job was the Atbasar Non-Ferrous Metal Trust. A young engineer drew attention to a smelter in Karsaklai, abandoned 10 years ago. Near this dilapidated object, an enthusiast geologist was able to discover giant deposits of copper. Since 1929, he demanded from the authorities to begin the development of natural resources, but he was refused. I had to go to Moscow to defend an important initiative for the country.

The following years were no easier. Kazakh officials did not want to allocate funding for Satpayev’s crazy projects, and he already believed in the potential of his native land. To help the romance came Mikhail Usov. An old friend introduced the Kazakh to leading Soviet scholars and helped reach the Soviet leadership. In 1941, the restless Satpayev was appointed director of the Institute of Geological Sciences. How deserved this post was, it became clear after a couple of months - the Nazis launched an attack on the industrial regions of Russia, and the Soviet Union could only use the deposits in Kazakhstan.
Achievements
During the war, Kanysh Satpayev cared about the development of manganese mining and published a monograph on the prospects for the extraction of raw materials for ferrous metallurgy. He wanted to join the party, but he was refused, learning that his parents were considered local nobles. This did not stop the scientist from making a career. In 1942 he was awarded the Stalin Prize, the following year he was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and was appointed chairman of the KazFAN of the USSR. In 1944, Satpayev managed to get a party card.
The official ceremony dedicated to the founding of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR took place only in 1946. Its head in the same year received the title of academician and became a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. In his spare time, the scientist recorded folk art and visited archaeological sites. He widowed and remarried Taisia Koshkina, who bore him two daughters.
