There are five categories of fitness for military service. Whether or not a citizen is to be drafted for service depends on which category the draftee will belong to after passing the medical commission.

There are five main categories of fitness for military service - A, B, C, D, D. In category B there are four subcategories, on which it depends on which types of troops the conscript will be sent to serve.

Suitability category A. A citizen belonging to this category is eligible and will be subject to recruitment without restrictions.

Suitability category B. A citizen belonging to this category can be called up for military service, but with some restrictions on the type of troops. The decryption to which type of troops the citizen is fit is the number next to the category. So, there are categories B1 - special-purpose units, airborne and assault-assault units, frontier troops and marines. Category B2 provides for service in submarines, tank troops, crew members of artillery installations, and engineering vehicles. Category B3 - these are citizens subject to service as drivers of crews of combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, missile launchers. Also in this subgroup are employees in guard units and other parts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as chemical units as specialists in refueling and storage of fuel. In addition, citizens belonging to category B3 can serve in anti-aircraft missile units. Category B4 provides for service as specialists in the protection and defense of combat missile systems and special structures, radio engineering units, as well as other parts of the RF Armed Forces.

Category B. A citizen with this category of fitness for military service shall be subject to a draft service in reserve. He has a military ID, but in peacetime is not subject to appeal.

Category G. This category provides for deferment from draft for a period of 6 months to a year, depending on the severity of the disease. In the next call, the citizen will need to re-pass the commission, and he will be called up on a common basis.

Shelf life category D. This category removes military duty from a citizen. A citizen will not be drafted for military service in either military or peacetime. In the future, it is not necessary to prove the presence of diseases that defined the category, since re-examination has been canceled since 2005.
