Every year, the British Analytical Institute Legatum publishes a ranking of countries by level of prosperity. The rating is based on 79 indicators combined into eight categories. In 2014, Norway was named the most prosperous country in the world.

The indicators on which the rating is based are grouped into eight categories. This is the economic situation, conditions for business, government, education, healthcare, security, personal freedoms and social capital. The rating of each country is determined by calculating the average value of indicators. The data is based on statistical analysis, population surveys, and sociological analysis. A detailed description of the prosperity index calculation methodology is given in the annual rating issue.

According to the polls, 67% of Norwegians believe that they can easily find a new job, 90.2% say that Norway is a good country for immigrants, and 94% say that they have someone to rely on in difficult times.
