Previously, the service in the internal affairs bodies was regulated by the Law "On Police", respectively, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were police officers. In February 2011, the Law on Police was adopted, which entered into force on March 1, 2011. To serve in the new body, employees had to undergo extraordinary certification. Successfully passing policemen continued their service as police officers.

Police officers have a number of additional rights and duties compared to ordinary citizens. In this regard, not everyone can be accepted for service in the police, and only the employee who was dismissed of his own free will, and not for negative reasons, can recover in it. For example, if a former employee of the authorities was fired for absenteeism, drunkenness or for abuse of power, he will never be able to recover. An employee dismissed of his own free will may again submit a report on his acceptance to the internal affairs bodies if he does not reach the age of 35.
