When sending any item by Russian post, the recipient’s index is required. And this often causes problems: even our own zip code, we do not always remember what to say about the indexes of friends or relatives. How to find the index by street and house number?

Instruction manual
1
Since index information is not secret, it’s easy to do. It is enough to type in any search engine the query "postal codes of Russia", "postal codes of Moscow" (or any other city) - and in the first lines you will see several links to the postal code databases at once. You can use any of them: the information presented in them is similar.
2
Having chosen the index base of the city you are interested in, select the letter or number from the list with which the name of the street you are interested in begins. On the page that opens, select the street you need (they are arranged in a list in alphabetical order). A zip code will be written next to its name.
3
Not always all addresses on the same street have the same zip code. After all, the index is essentially the number of the post office that serves this house, and it often happens that, for example, even and odd houses on the same small street can be located in service areas of different offices. And, for example, Leninsky Prospekt in Moscow (the length of which is almost 13 kilometers) is served by 19 post offices, Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg - 9. In such cases, houses belonging to a particular post office are indicated in the database of postal codes called streets.
4
The format for presenting data on addresses with this index is as follows: first, parity or oddness is indicated, then the range of numbers. For example, "Nevsky Prospect, N (1-25) - 191186". This means that the postal code 191186 have all the houses with odd numbers from 1 to 25 houses, inclusive.
Helpful advice
You can also find out the zip code without going to the Internet - directories containing data on service areas of all post offices in the country are on each mail. As a rule, such a directory is always at hand for all postal employees involved in receiving mail. It is enough to name the address you are interested in - and they will dictate the necessary zip code to you.
