Dmitry Astrakhan's film "Everything will be fine", shot back in 1995, and now has not lost its relevance, has not lost the interest of the viewer. An ordinary life story, similar to hundreds of fictional fates of neighbors in the yard and relatives, will not leave indifferent the representative of any generation of Russians.
The film has become a modern classic
Filming of the feature film "Everything will be fine" took place in a difficult period for Russian cinema. Nevertheless, the picture not only found its viewer, but also became a peculiar reflection of that time. Many critics saw a certain caricature of the film with respect to the inhabitants of the hinterland, but the mass spectator of this side of the storyline did not want to notice it both during the premiere and does not see it now, after almost 20 years of its existence. According to reviews by admirers of the director’s work, the film is so close and understandable that it clearly shows the character of a real Russian person, even in the heroes who came from America to visit their small homeland.
Interesting facts about filming a movie
The film "Everything will be fine" was shot in St. Petersburg, in a place called Utkina Zavod, on the outskirts of the city. Scenery design did not have to be created, since a dormitory building was found that completely repeats the idea of the scriptwriter and director. It is noteworthy that during the filming the residents of the house were there, continuing the usual drinking of alcohol, and some of them regularly flash in mass scenes. Their constant intoxication does not prevent the acting group from recalling them warmly. For example, Mikhail Ulyanov received a bouquet of flowers from them, bought with small coins collected by the “whole world”. According to him, this is the most expensive bouquet for his entire career, because he was presented from the heart, really from the heart!
The film was shot in the winter, but according to the script, the picture takes place in the summer. In this regard, many funny situations arose. The main characters' fight scene was filmed under a huge awning, against a background of wood, as it was snowing. As a result, the equipment was nearly damaged. The lone old man’s ride in a wheelchair hitched to a truck wasn’t given a trick, as there was no stuntman with a face that was at least partially similar to that of the performer of the role. As a result, most of the shots in this episode were shot with Mikhail Ulyanov himself.
Acting casting did not take much time, since the roles were already written for the performers. Small overlays associated with the refusal of one of the heroes, due to the heavy workload, decided on their own, according to Dmitry Astrakhan, and did not affect the quality of the film. This was an isolated case, the rest of the actors, after reading the script, agreed to participate without hesitation. The history of the Russian Cinderella of the 90s attracted the attention of both eminent representatives of the acting world, and unknown to a wide range of viewers.
