According to the current legislation, in particular, Federal Law No. 76-ФЗ dated 05.27.1998 "On the status of military personnel", this category of citizens exercises their constitutional right to work through military service. The time spent in the ranks of the Russian Army, indicated on the military ID, is counted in the total length of service and is taken into account when calculating the continuous length of service that you need to know in order to calculate temporary disability benefits.

The seniority of a former serviceman will be considered continuous if, after serving in the army, he got a job no later than 1 year after the date indicated on the military card as the termination of service. It is important that service in the army be correctly reflected in the work book - the main document according to which labor and continuous experience is considered.

If a citizen first gets a job only after serving in the army, his employer must have a work record book no later than a week from the day he was hired. It must be entered on the dates of military service and the documents listed on the basis of which these entries are made.

If a citizen returns to the place of work that he left while leaving to serve in the army, then in accordance with clause 21a of the RF Government decision of April 16, 2003 No. 225 “On work books”, an employee of the department must write in the work book personnel of this enterprise. The entry is made on the basis of a military card or other similar documents: certificates from the command of a military unit on demobilization or, for senior officers, an officer’s identity card.

Service in the army under the contract is taken into account in the general work experience, as well as in the experience of public service and work in the specialty. In this case, one day in military service is equivalent to one day of work. If a citizen served in the army on conscription, including in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, then one day of service is equivalent to two days at work.

Citizens who served in military posts associated with increased health risks and risk to life, this time is counted in a special work experience. It is taken into account when establishing an old-age pension or long service pension, as an experience related to special working conditions. The only condition in this case is that the military position indicated on the military ID card is included in the corresponding list approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.
