An insurance certificate of compulsory pension insurance is a document of an insured person that confirms its registration in the RF PFR system. The number indicated on the certificate is the person’s personal account number in the FIU of the Russian Federation. If you change your last name, first name or patronymic, the insurance certificate of compulsory pension insurance must be changed.

If you are employed, then you need to apply for an exchange of insurance certificate with your employer. This must be done within 30 days from the day the surname, first name or middle name is changed. The application will need to attach:
- a copy of the passport;
- a copy and original of a document that confirms the fact of a change of surname, name or patronymic (marriage certificate, court decision).
The employer within 14 days from the date of receipt of your application for a change of insurance certificate from you will transfer it to the pension fund department with a certified cover letter from the organization. Within 30 days you will be issued a certificate of compulsory pension insurance with new data.

If you do not work, you must independently contact the authority of the pension fund at the place of residence, fill out the form for the exchange of the insurance certificate of mandatory pension insurance and attach the following documents:
-copy of the passport;
- a copy and original of a document that confirms the fact of a change of surname, name or patronymic (marriage certificate, court decision).
Within 30 days you will be issued a new certificate of compulsory pension insurance.
Useful advice
In case of loss of certificate of compulsory pension insurance:
- working citizens are required to apply to their employer within 1 month, which in turn will transfer it to the FIU;
- non-working citizens are required to come to the FIU with a passport within 1 month to write a statement about the loss of a certificate.
The FIU, upon acceptance of the application, issues a duplicate of the mandatory pension insurance certificate to the insured person within 1 month.
