Instruction manual
1
Foreigners or stateless persons must fulfill several conditions. Firstly, they need to recognize the Constitution of Ukraine and its laws, to comply with them. Secondly, a special declaration is mandatory, confirming the absence of any other citizenship.
2
The next prerequisite is permanent residence in Ukraine for a period of at least five years. However, in this case there are exceptions: there is no need to live in the country for some time if the applicant has been married to a citizen of Ukraine for two years.
3
In addition, the procedure for obtaining Ukrainian citizenship will be preceded by the issuance of an immigration permit. And getting it is not so easy, because this document is provided only within the quota. By the way, it directly depends on the category to which the person belongs. As a rule, these categories include precisely those persons whose citizenship will be in the interests of the country: for example, specialists with a demanded profession, scientists and artists, large investors, and so on.
4
The applicant must also have a sufficiently high level of knowledge of the Ukrainian language. True, there is a small caveat in the citizenship law: fulfilling the requirement is not mandatory for those who have physical disabilities that make it difficult to learn the language.
5
A foreigner applying for Ukrainian citizenship must secure a livelihood that does not contradict the laws of the country. That is, the applicant must have a job or some kind of social benefits. Please note that this clause does not apply to refugees.
6
Please note that the procedure for obtaining citizenship of Ukraine can be of two types: accelerated and ordinary. In the first case, you meet the deadline of up to one month. However, this procedure is not available to everyone, only to persons with direct relatives - Ukrainian citizens. The second type of receipt can take a much longer time - about a year. The indicated period can be reduced only in connection with certain circumstances, for example, if a residence permit was issued in advance.
