The professional day of the firefighter is annually celebrated on April 30. The tradition of celebrating this very day dates back to the time of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, who published the “Order of the Grad Deanery”. In this document, fire safety rules were prescribed, which provided for constant watch in case of fire sources.

Sentinel fireman
The sentinel times of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, on the basis of the Tsar’s decree, had the right to prosecute and punish Moscow residents for not observing safety precautions when handling fire. The decree of the king was signed on April 30, 1649. Tsar Peter the First went even further, he organized the first professional firefighter teams, which were required to have all the county and provincial cities. These teams have already been equipped with professional equipment - carts with water barrels, hooks, axes. Under Peter I, the first fire station was organized, and in cities and rural areas it was prescribed the construction of a fire tower, on which sentinels were on duty. In the event of a fire, they would sound the alarm, notifying the district of the fire.
Everyday holiday
In modern Russia, the day of the firefighter was adopted by presidential decree on April 30, 1999. Supervision of compliance with fire safety rules is carried out by the State Fire Service, which is managed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. Fire brigades, which carry out their difficult service, have at their disposal modern equipment and facilities that help to successfully fight fire.
A holiday for most fire fighters is a labor day. They, like on any other day, keep watch and go on calls, but there are some concessions. For example, those who "deserve it" can leave their duty at home a couple of hours earlier, and join the shift a couple of hours later, without prejudice to the service, of course.
Solemn events cover mainly staff, they also perform important work, which is just not so visible. On holiday, ceremonies and events are organized, concerts are held, amateur groups from among fire-fighters often perform.
In recent years, the Ministry of Emergencies has increasingly supported the creative endeavors of employees, and therefore on April 30 exhibitions of photographs of fire fighters or poetry competitions are held. Children's festivals are very popular, the performances of those children who were literally saved from the fire look especially touching.
