With the widespread distribution of e-mail, many have stopped writing letters and sending them in envelopes. We prefer a quick and convenient way to communicate in a virtual space. However, it is not possible to send a virtual package or parcel. Yes, and I just want to sometimes please relatives with a "live" postcard or a warm letter written in the old fashioned way.

1
Zip codes exist in many countries around the world. And surely, each of us at least once in a life had to figure out these treasured figures. The easiest way is to ask in the mail before sending a letter / parcel. But they will not always answer you, or they will simply answer impolite. Those who want to be sure that the dispatch will reach the addressee are advised to try the following methods of index search.
2
To find out the postal codes of Russian cities, use the service on the Russian Post website. To do this, go to http://russianpost.ru/rp/servise/ru/home/postuslug/searchops . If you want to find the index by service area, select the appropriate item. From the drop-down menus, select the desired region, district, settlement, street and house. At the bottom, click the "Find" button. After that, below this button you will see the result.
3
You can also find the index at the address, for this on the Russian Post website (see the previous paragraph), check the corresponding item and enter the desired address without commas or prefixes. Click the "Find" button and get the search results. If nothing was found, try removing the extra word from the street name (such as "Small", "Third", etc.)
4
In addition to the Russian Post, a postal code search can be carried out on special sites, such as http://www.ruspostindex.ru/ . Select a region from the list, then a city or district, street. Please note that different house numbers on the same street may belong to different post offices.
5
To find out the index of another country, use the sites http://www.geopostcodes.com/ or http://postal-codes.net (in Russian http://www.statkod.ru/post.html ). Select a country, state / province / land, city. It is not always easy to understand, since each country has a special administrative division, so before sending mail abroad it is worth checking the full address and postal code of the recipient.
6
Indicate the index correctly. For example, on envelopes of the Russian Post all numbers must be written according to the model indicated on the back. Of course, even without an index, your letter will be sent as intended. After all, all letters are sorted before sending, and stamps with the necessary numbers are put on envelopes without an index. Nevertheless, look for a zip code - written in advance, it will speed up the delivery process of your shipment.
Helpful advice
If you doubt the correctness of the found index, it is not possible to ask the addressee, and you do not want to write the index at all, indicate the index of the main post office of the city where the recipient lives. Addresses of the main post offices of Russia can be found on the Russian Post website in the "Branches and Departments" section, and the index can be found there.
