The moral need of a loving human soul is the prayer commemoration of the deceased loved ones, expressed in prayer for them. Sometimes the usual memorial prayers are replaced by other chants. This refers to the period of the celebration of Easter.
Easter is the most solemn and exciting human heart Orthodox holiday. On this day, believers triumph over the accession of life over death, remember the great miracle of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ after painful suffering and repose. Therefore, on Easter Day, grief over the deceased loved ones fades into the background, because a person in the resurrection of Christ opened up hope for a future eternal life and personal resurrection. However, such joy is not a reason for the abolition of prayer for the departed.
There are times when a person leaves this world on Easter week - the time referred to in the church tradition as the Bright Week. The church cannot leave the deceased without a memorial prayer, but the charter prescribes some changes in the order of prayers.
So, instead of the memorial akathist accepted by the Church, canons and other prayers, on Easter week, the Easter canon is sung in memory of the deceased. Canon is easy to read. A special place in the prayer for the deceased is occupied by the troparia, which change to the solemn and most important Easter chant: "Christ is risen from the dead." This Easter troparia speaks of the victory of Christ over death and the granting of life to those who are in the tomb.
In Orthodox practice, it is customary to read a psalter about a person who has departed to another world. On Easter Sunday, the psalter is not read. There is a special alternative to this sacred text - the New Testament book of the Acts of the Holy Apostles.
It should be especially taken into account that the liturgy during the Easter week does not order commemoration of the dead. The funeral service can again be performed according to a special order. A person can pray in the temple and in his own words about repose. In addition, the above Easter prayers can be offered by a person to God and at home.
