The Bible - translated from Greek as "book" - is actually a complex of several books of the Old and New Testaments, separated by the birth of the Messiah - Christ. The Old Testament is recognized by both Christians and Jews, and the New is the foundation of the religion of precisely Christians - Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, etc. The interpretation of this book is a source of argumentation for the truth of faith.
Instruction manual
1
Read the Bible two chapters a day — one from the Old Testament and one from the New. If it is difficult to perceive information in such a volume, read two conceptions. The berths are marked with special margin icons (do not confuse with verses that occupy one or two lines). It will be good if you know the Church Slavonic language, but if you cannot read it, get a book in Russian - now there is such a translation.
2
Read the interpretation of the Bible in the writings of theologians. It is not necessary to confine ourselves to only Orthodox (Russian and Greek) holy fathers; Catholic theologians also made a significant contribution to the study and interpretation of scripture. Among the Russian interpreters of the Gospel, Fr. Averky (Taushev) with his Four Gospels. The interpretation of the Bible as a whole and the Psalms in particular were carried out by Ambrose Mediolansky, Aurelius Augustine (St. Augustine), John Chrysostom and many others. The work "Explanatory Bible" was written by A. Lopukhin.
3
Write down historical, actual and other data in the form of a summary. Draw parallels between events and actions. Explain allegories, remember names and dates. Relate the syllable of the authors of the Bible to this data.
4
Ask priests about places that you cannot interpret or explain using books. Ask questions, even uncomfortable. Bible study is not at all connected with the desire to denigrate Christianity or Christians - usually a person who seeks to find the truth does this. Therefore, the priest should not see the threat in your questions.
