early years
Gennady Viktorovich was born on December 1, 1945. His hometown is Moscow. His father was a radio engineer, he abandoned his family before the birth of his son. Mother was also an engineer, in her free time she participated in productions of the folk theater.
Gene often visited the theater, where his mother performed, in childhood participated in amateur performances. Mother enrolled her son in a music school. Khazanov mastered playing the piano, but dreamed of being an actor. The boy was very fond of the speeches of Raikin Arkady, memorized his monologues. Once he got to a satirist's concert and managed to get to know him.
After the 8th grade, Gene worked as a locksmith, studied at evening school. Then he entered the theater university, but did not get into any. Then Gennady decided to study as an engineer, having got to IISS.
Having become a student, Khazanov began to participate in amateur performances. He was a member of the KVN team, at that time a monologue of a student at the culinary technical school appeared. In 1965, Gennady entered the circus school.
Creative activity
In 1967, Khazanov worked in the team of Leonid Utesov, where he was an entertainer, and in 1971 he began working in the Moskontsert. The genres of his performances were a parody, a clowning, then he became a reprise artist.
In 1974, Gennady won the competition with the monologue Altov Semyon. The performance was shown on television, Khazanov became famous. The play "Little Things in Life", which collected full halls, was popular.
During performances, Khazanov often improvised, allowed “sharp” moments. They didn’t show it on TV, passing through censorship. In the end, Gennady was banned from performing, this happened in 1984. However, he received invitations to participate in closed concerts.
In 1978, Gennady Viktorovich created the MONO theater, where he was the only actor. The first production was "Little Tragedies" (dir. Viktyuk Roman).
In 1992, Khazanov was invited to work at the Moscow Art Theater. In 1997, Gennady Viktorovich received the post of artistic director of the Variety Theater. Khazanov teaches at the Academy of Theater Arts. On television, he appears as the host of various television shows.
