John Vasilievich (Ivan the Terrible) from the Rurikovich dynasty was born on August 25, 1530 in the village of Kolomenskoye. He went down in history as one of the most cruel rulers, distinguished by violent disposition and having a mania of persecution. However, modern historians increasingly question this view of the historical characters of the Time of Troubles.

Formally, Ivan Vasilyevich became king at the age of three, but initially his mother, Elena Glinsky, with close associates ruled Russia, however, at the age of 30, Glinsky died most likely from poisoning. The time from the death of Vasily the third to the wedding of his son Ivan’s kingdom is commonly called the Time of Troubles, this is the time of the reign of the Seven Boyars, arbitrariness in the power of the noble nobility. The historical documents that reached the descendants have a lot of contradictions; moreover, some of them are clearly falsified and rewritten, and therefore we can only guess who exactly the tsar with the nickname Grozny was like and how he died.
By the way, Ivan the Terrible - the first king in Russia.
Reign
The views of the Moscow Tsar, who ascended the throne at the age of 15, for the reign were similar to Byzantine ideas about the divine kings, messengers of God, who had unlimited power. It is in a special vision of his destiny that Ivan the Terrible's known affection for churchmen and monks lies, his frantic prayers and demonstrative long-term services in personal chambers.
After the assassination attempt and the famous Moscow uprising, Ivan Vasilyevich protected himself from the whole state by a circle of associates, whom he called the Chosen Rada. His board, as they would say now, was directive, many functions were delegated to the congresses. which only Peter the Great abolished. However, this did not prevent Ivan the Terrible from creating a Code of Law, according to which descendants lived for centuries, to carry out major reforms in the field of politics, the army, the legislative system and state bodies, to conquer Kazan, Astrakhan, Western Siberia and Bashkiria.
