Vaclav Havel was successful in drama, but became known as an outstanding politician. He took an active part in the events of the political life of the Czech Republic in different years, was persecuted, and was in prison. Vaclav Havel was born on October 5, 1936. His grandfather successfully engaged in the construction business, and was also known as the founder of the film company "Lucernafilm". By 1939, the family owned a film studio, several apartment buildings, a chain of restaurants. They also disposed of vast forest lands. Wenceslas's maternal grandfather was once an ambassador to Hungary and Austria, then he ran one of the shoe factories, and later received the post of Minister of Propaganda.
In 1947, Vaclav graduated from elementary school. After this, the boy was sent to a boarding school. However, when a year later the Communists came to power in the country, the property of the Havels was confiscated. Vaclav was forced to leave school. The young man continued his education at a vocational school, where he received the specialty of a laboratory chemist.
In 1950, Havel got a job in a chemistry lab. Along with work, he studied at the evening gymnasium. Then there was a study at the Faculty of Economics of the Technical University in Prague.
Havel was twice married. His first wife was Olga Gavlova. For the second time, actress Dagmar Veshkrnova became his chosen one.

In 1955, Vaclav tried his hand as a literary critic and quickly gained popularity in relevant circles. At the same time, Havel begins work on his own plays.
From 1957 to 1959, Havel served in the Czechoslovak army. At the end of the service, he is a stage worker at the Na Zabradli Theater. But soon Wenceslas becomes a literary manager and assistant director. The theater captivates Havel, he even comprehends the art of dramaturgy in absentia at the Prague Academy of Arts.
In 1963, the first play of the young playwright - "Party in the Garden" was presented to the public. In subsequent years, he created a number of works for the theater. These are mainly satirical plays, where the author tries to reflect the absurdity of contemporary reality.
