The future actor was born on January 9, 1951 in Leningrad. The father initially wanted to name his son in honor of the biblical king Solomon. But mother was against. She persuaded to call her son Semyon.
School years Semen Alexandrovich recalls without much pleasure. Because of his non-standard appearance, he often became the object of ridicule. He was given the nickname "old Jew".
Furman knew in his school years that he would become an actor. But he could not enter a suitable university - a specific appearance interfered.
