The plot of the picture
At the center of the events of the political detective is the struggle between two intelligence services - Soviet and American. The action takes place in Moscow and the country of Triziland, which Africa does not exist on a real map. It borders on Nagonia, another fictitious state.
Residents of the CIA are preparing a military coup in Nagonia. Their headquarters is located in the city of Louisburg - the capital of Triziland. In parallel, the intelligence of the Soviets, led by General Konstantinov, finds out that the American agent Trianon is operating in the capital. To clarify the circumstances, Africa brought under the guise of a journalist ladle soup Slavin. The search for the spy leads the special services to the economist Olga Winter. Other suspects were a trade representative, former husband Winter Zotov and her current love, Oaks.
Slavin meets with businessman from America Glabbom and reveals him as an intelligence agent. He is preparing a trap for a Soviet officer, and Slavin is in prison. He was able to get out of it only after the journalist Paul Dick turned to the press. At this time, Dubov, close to failure, because it is he who turns out to be the very Trianon, takes poison. A make-up KGB officer goes to a meeting with a resident. As a result, the agent was detained and the plan for a military coup in an African country is a failure.
Images and roles
It is worth saying that the film is based on real events. On the account of the Soviet intelligence there were many successful operations. A similar case occurred in 1977, the author even retained the code name of the agent Trianon. Other characters also had prototypes.
Julian Semenov had many friends in the KGB, so he painted the images of his heroes “from nature”. Vyacheslav Tikhonov, who played in the film of General Konstantinov, fell in love with the audience on the film "Seventeen Moments of Spring". To work with Stirlitz himself from the cult series for many actors was an honor.
The general’s colleagues - leaders of the operation were played by actors Mikhail Gluzsky and Nikolai Zasukhin. The role of Vitaly Slavin went to Yuri Solomin. The fearless officer from the painting “Adjutant of His Excellency” continued the theme of patriotism and sacrifice for the sake of a just cause. Today, the image of the scout Slavin is considered a textbook.
Unexpected was the hero John Glebb performed by the singer and comedian Vakhtang Kikabidze. He coped with the task brilliantly, and he got the image of a bright villain capable of anything. Alexei Petrenko got the role of journalist Paul Dick. The image was different from all the previously played heroes, and by that time there were a lot of them - a dozen and a half. The role of Dubov-Trianon became the brightest in the picture, it went to Boris Klyuyev.
Among the abundance of men in the tape there are female images. Charming Irina Alferova portrayed Olga Winter, who has become an intelligent and worthy adversary for the special services. The model past helped Eleanor Zubkova organically portray Glabba's lover. Actress Olga Volkova got the role of his wife - the daughter of the Nazi, who inherited millions.
