Starting conditions
Early vocational guidance for modern children has become compulsory. Psychologists and educators create teaching materials and tests that help identify the child’s abilities. All these tricks were not needed for Philip Kotov. The boy was born on February 8, 1989 in a family of creative intelligentsia. Parents at that time lived in the city of Barnaul. Father and mother served as actors in the local drama theater. A few months after the birth of the boy, the family moved to Nizhny Novgorod. The situation was such that Philip spent his childhood behind the curtains of the Nizhny Novgorod Academic Drama Theater.
The boy played his first role when he was only one year old. He stepped on stage with a bunny. For this role, the small artist was paid a fee of 5 rubles. When Philip was seven years old, he was on the same stage with the famous actors Alexander Abdulov and Alexander Zbruev. At school, Kotov tried to study without twos, but this did not always work out. On the part of the teachers, a biased attitude towards him developed. After the ninth grade, he decided to get a specialized education at the Nizhny Novgorod Theater School.

Professional activity
At the school, Kotov tried not to miss classes and always did homework. Work on any role was easy for him. Diligence and zeal have borne fruit - Philip received the first prize at the Shukshin competition, which was held in Samara. After graduating from college with honors, Kotov received a presidential scholarship as the best graduate. With this money, he went to Moscow to find a job in the capital's theater. After exhausting and difficult tests, the certified actor was accepted into the troupe of the Taganka Theater.
At first, Kotov was entrusted with roles in extras and short episodes. When the trial period ended, the "guest from Nizhny Novgorod" began to play the main roles. In the play "The Master and Margarita" he appeared before the audience in the image of Jesus Christ. Then it was included in all repertoire performances. Creativity of the young actor was noticed and appreciated by television producers. After some time, Philip began to be invited to large-scale projects. In 2011, Kotov was approved for the main role in the comedy series "Zaitsev + 1".
