Anne Mater is a pseudonym for Mildred Griveson (born October 10, 1946 in England, UK), a popular British writer, author of more than 160 romance novels. She also signed novels like Caroline Fleming and Cardin Fleming.
Mildred Griveson began recording stories in her childhood. The first novel that she actually completed, Caroline (1965), was also her first book, which was published. According to her novel "Leopard in the Snow" (1974), the 1978 film of the same name was shot.
Personal life and family
Mildred Griveson was born on October 10, 1946 in England. She always wanted to write and for years she did this for her own pleasure. She was engaged in creativity all her childhood and teenage years, telling stories from children's adventures to hot gypsy passions. Her mother collected them from time to time, when her room took on a too cluttered appearance, and disposed of these manuscripts.
Mildred got married very young and became a housewife. However, it was her husband who suggested that she send one of her stories to the publisher, but the girl did not finish any of her stories at that time. Her work was first published at 19 years old. At that time, she already gave birth to a child and used every chance to write at least a few lines.
Mildred now has two adult children, a son and a daughter, and two grandchildren, Abigail and Ben.
Writing career
With the support of her husband, she finally completed the Caroline manuscript. When she was only 19 years old, in 1965 the Mills & Boon publishing house published this work, and this was her first published book, signed under the pseudonym Anne Mater.
However, a small amateur circulation took place earlier. Her first five books were first published in hardcover by Robert Hale Ltd, although Mills & Boon later published them in paperback.
The first novel to be released entirely through this publisher was Dangerous Charm in May 1969.
In 1973, she became the author of the next novel of the popular publishing house for women Harlequin Romance. These stories were sensual, full of emotions and plot twists and turns, which was so appreciated by the female audience. Mildred was chosen to be the author of the series because she, along with Violet Winspeare and Anne Hampson, was the most popular and workable among Harlequin writers.
