Elliott Gould (real name Elliott Goldstein) is an American theater and film actor, producer. He began his creative career on the stage, performing in numerous Broadway musicals. He performed his first film roles in 1964 in low-budget films. The fame came to the actor after the film "Military Field Hospital M.E.SH."

The future actor was born in the United States in the summer of 1938 into a Jewish family. His parents were emigrants from Eastern Europe. My father was engaged in the trading business, and my mother - the manufacture of artificial flowers.
Elliott from early childhood showed creativity. Already at the age of eight, he began to professionally engage in acting at the New York Children's Theater School.
After graduation, he continued his education at college. To pay for his studies, Elliott had to start earning money. He was a lifter, a salesman in a vacuum cleaner store, and then in a toy store, also worked as a promoter and consultant.
At the same time, he began performing on the Broadway stage in extras and corps de ballet. Then he became part of the main cast of one of the theaters. A few years later he got the main role in the famous musical "I Can Get It for You Wholesale", where he performed with Barbara Streisand.
Film career
In the early 1960s, Gould decided to try his hand at the movies. At first he got small roles in low-budget films, which did not add to his popularity.
The actor caught his attention only in 1968, playing a role in the comedy "The Night When We Caught in a Minsk Place". After that, he was followed by a series of proposals from well-known producers.
A year later, Elliott played in the film "Bob and Carol, Ted and Alice." The brilliant play of the young actor earned him an Oscar nomination in the category "Best Supporting Actor."
Gould's following works added to his popularity. He played one of the main roles in the picture of R. Altman, "M.E.S. Military Field Hospital", which tells about the work of the doctors of the hospital in Korea. The film was shot based on the famous novel by R. Hooker, which was written in 1968, "MASH: a novel about three army doctors."
Then Gould played in two other Robert Altman films: Long Farewell, California Poker. He was also lucky enough to work with the famous director Ingmar Bergman in the movie Touch.
In the mid-1970s, Gould’s career in big films began to decline, and he began to appear in television projects more and more often. Among his works, it is worth noting the roles in the famous series: Ambulance, Friends, Poirot, Ray Donovan, CSI: Crime Scene.
One of Gould’s most notable works in the 2000s was the role of Ruben Tishkov in the film “Ocean’s Eleven Friends” and in the sequels: “Ocean’s Twelve Friends” and “Ocean’s Thirteen Friends”.
