Elena Bondarchuk was born in 1962 in Moscow, in the family of Sergei Bondarchuk and actress Irina Skobtseva. The rest of her family is also “movie people”: her younger brother Fedor Bondarchuk and half-sister Natalia Bondarchuk.
When Lena was born, a dispute arose in the family over the name: her father wanted to call her Olesya, and the rest insisted on Elena. And when the girl grew up, she began to demand that she be called Alena, so there is a difference in the sources mentioning her name.
As a child, Lena mainly lived with her grandmother - Julia Nikolaevna Skobtseva, it was in her house that the childhood of the future actress passed. Grandmother followed the granddaughter's successes, and had no doubt that she would become an artist - the makings were visible from early childhood.
Theater career
Therefore, no one was surprised at the family when, after school, Alena entered the Moscow Art Theater School, the studio of People's Artist Yevgeny Evstigneev. Largely thanks to this master of stage art, her studies were very interesting.
After graduation, Bondarchuk entered the troupe of the theater. Pushkin, then moved to the theater of the Moscow City Council.
In the late 90s, acting fate brought Elena Bondarchuk to the A.M. Gorky Art Academic Theater, where she became a leading actress. Elena Sergeevna played in performances based on the works of Russian classics: in the plays Monk and the Demon, All Your Antosha Chekhonte, and others.
In 2003, Elena Bondarchuk moved to the Empire of Stars private theater. It was a risky step, and many discouraged the actress from him, but her fate in this theater was successful: the troupe went on foreign tours, and Elena Sergeevna even performed on Broadway.
Movie career
In 1978, Elena made her film debut: starred in the movie "Velvet Season" with her parents, then starred in episodes. Then the artist began to be invited to take on the main roles: the criminal film "Parisian Drama", the family saga "Time and the Conway Family", the historical and revolutionary film "Come Free", the joint film "Boris Godunov" with foreign directors.
Much effort was given to work on the film "Quiet Flows the Don", directed by Sergey Bondarchuk. And then Elena left the movie for a long time, completely immersed in theatrical work.
At the beginning of the new century, viewers again saw their favorite movie actress: the historical British film Express St. Petersburg - Cannes, the dramatic thriller Amber Wings, the melodrama Poor Nastya and others.
The last work of Elena Bondarchuk was the melodrama "Classmates", which was released after her death. She played here the role of the mother of the protagonist Fedor - his role was played by the son of actress Konstantin Kryukov.
