Adrian Paul is a British actor, best known for his sensational nineties series Highlander. The story of the immortal mountaineer Duncan MacLeod won the hearts of millions of viewers.
Biography
The famous Adrian Paul Hewett was born in England. In 1959, on May 25, in a maternity hospital in huge London, a little boy was born, who in the future became a famous British actor. He was the first child in a noisy Italian and serious British family. Subsequently, their family was replenished with two more sons.
Adrian Paul's parents had nothing to do with cinema and creativity. Their family was committed to sports, so the boy from childhood was fond of, like his father, rugby, cricket and, especially, football. In his older teens, Adrian became interested in martial sports, as he faced the question of standing up for himself.
But parallel to sport and contrary to the standards of education, he was drawn to a creative path. He took part in school plays and productions, was actively interested in choreography.
Career: the path to fame
Dance art attracted Adrian more and more. And even though it was still very far from acting fame, the young man was often invited to appear in commercials for men’s wardrobe. His athletic figure made it possible to become an attractive model, and his knowledge of choreography helped him to stage fashion shows himself.
The modeling business allowed Paul to leave for France. When Adrian moved to Paris, he studied choreography for three more years, and also attended the theater studio to study acting.
After he acquired the necessary skills and little experience in the film industry, Paul decides to conquer America. He had a firm goal - to increase the level of his modeling career and engage in parallel choreography at a new stage. Fame in the cinema was still not part of his plans.
Since his acquaintance had long lived in Hollywood, Adrian Paul decides to go there. After some time, he again studied acting and choreography.
Filming
In 1986, Adrian accidentally met Lynn Rawlins, who soon became his agent. And, although Adrian still does not take his movie career seriously, he agrees to the proposal to star in the TV series "Dynasty - 2. The Colby Family" as a Russian dancer.
After this debut, several more projects followed, popular and not very, on television and in the movies. The most significant work of these years was the role in the television picture "Eagle Owl", in which his character kills his wife and daughter and he begins a war on crime.
In early 1992, for the actor began shooting in the world-famous TV series "Highlander". By that time, a film about the immortal Scotsman with Christopher Lambert in the title role had already made a noise, and an unsuccessful continuation of "Highlander - 2. Revival" was released. At first, the creators of the series "Highlander" planned for Paul the role of Connor MacLeod, but Adrian insisted on playing another character. Christopher Lambert was listed in the project as a guest star and relative of the protagonist.
The first season of the series won huge success among viewers and positive reviews from critics. This project has so gained popularity that its shooting lasted eight years and six seasons were created. For a long time filming the series, Paul decided to participate in the work also as a director. He himself shot a series in which Duncan returns to his homeland. The episode was recognized as one of the best in the entire series.
Due to the great popularity of this project, several attempts have been made to return the film "Highlander" to the wide screen. In "Highlander 3" the story was only with the participation of Christopher Lambert, but in the fourth part the authors connected the series and the movie. Adrian Paul starred in Highlander 4, but the film, as a result, also failed at the box office.
After the project "Highlander" closed, Adrian continued his career in cinema, but there was no repeated success in other films. The role of the attractive and sexy immortal Scottish was firmly entrenched in the actor.
Adrian Paul is not only a talented actor, dancer and choreographer, he is also a stuntman, so almost all the tricks in the films were performed by himself. Also, for more than seven years, he studied various martial arts and took lessons in katana ownership.
The actor’s excellent muscular physique is the result of a special diet and workouts designed personally for himself by Paul.
Adrian speaks three languages fluently, not counting English: Italian, French and Cockney - a special dialect of the inhabitants of foggy London.
