Biography
The future artist was born at the very beginning of the 30s in the US state of Georgia. Almost immediately after the birth of the child, Jasper's parents divorced, and the boy stayed with his mother, with whom he changed his place of residence and began to live in the southern United States.
In the native land of Jones, there were practically no specialized educational institutions of a pictorial direction, and people did not even take seriously the profession of an artist. In the late 40s, the young man made an attempt to study in the art specialty in his hometown. A few months later, he decided to move to New York and entered the same direction.
In a new city for himself, Jasper began to rapidly immerse himself in fine art, came to various events on this subject. He studied in the direction of "Design" for exactly six months, then decided to quit his education and to join the United States Army. Two years later, he returned to the "second capital" and gained many new connections in the field of painting. One of the key personalities in the professional development of Jones was Robert Rauschenberg. It was he who introduced the young artist to the highest circle of artists.
Creation
The most popular were some of the first works of the famous artist. In the early 50s, Jones painted one of the most iconic works of art of the 20th century, the painting "Flag". Many prophesied the failure of the new artist. One of the main accusations was inciting hatred for their own country. As the "creator" himself claimed, he saw the idea of this canvas in a dream and immediately started writing. Subsequently, this painting made a great contribution to the development of painting in the United States.
In addition to the “Flag”, Jasper is the author of a large number of interpretations of numerical forms, that is, he portrayed the usual numbers with a creative approach. One of the hallmarks of a successful artist is a non-standard approach to standard things, he depicts many meanings of one subject.
Since 1965, Jones took up the sculptural direction. One of the favorite directions was all the same ordinary things to which the average person does not attach importance. These were household items such as chairs, vases and furniture.
