He was the deputy military commandant of Chechnya in 2001-02. He was appointed deputy chairman of the political council of the Chechen executive committee of the runway United Russia. He died in 2008. Hero of the Russian Federation.
The second brother of Jabrail, Sulim Yamadayev, the commander of the Vostok battalion, took part. In the first Chechen war, on the side of the militants. In 1999, he sided with the federal forces. Upon learning of the death of her husband, Janine tried to attend the funeral, but she was not allowed to go. Military career
Dzhabrail Yamadayev served in the Missile Forces. After demobilization, he returned to Chechnya. Unlike his brothers, he did not fight on the side of the militants; his military career began in the ranks of the Russian army. In 1998, Jabrail was a member of the battles with the Wahhabis in Gudermes. A year later, he took a direct part in the operation to free Gudermes from the militants. As a result, the city was not destroyed, but was liberated. On the account of Yamadayev a large number of weapons and ammunition handed over to law enforcement officers.
In March 2002, a new unit of the Russian army — the Vostok battalion — appeared in Chechnya. It consisted entirely of Chechens, many of whom had previously fought in the second battalion of the National Guard, and then became supporters of pro-Russian forces. Dzhabrail Yamadayev was appointed commander of this unit.
The combat unit has 41 special operations on the flat terrain and in the mountains, 114 reconnaissance and search activities. The military personnel of the "East" destroyed 16 bases, 137 militants, including 14 high-ranking commanders.
The battalion was considered one of the most effective and efficient units in the Chechen Republic. The success of the young commander aroused the hatred of the militants. A significant role in this was played by the transition of the Jabrail brothers to the side of the federals. Yamadayev had many enemies, and they all wanted revenge. But Shamil Basaev was considered the main enemy of the Yamadayevs.
The Yamadayev brothers since 2002 controlled the order in the Vedeno district. He was considered one of the most criminal in Chechnya, and besides, this very place was chosen by field commander Shamil Basayev. During the year, several attempts and attacks were made on the brothers, which did not bring the attackers the desired results.
The success of the Vostok battalion did not go unnoticed. Both civilians and military experts recognized them. One of the main goals of the brothers was to catch Basayev and transfer him to the authorities. They were sure that they could reach him.
Attempt on Yamadayev
In March 2003, at night, on the 5th day, servicemen under the command of Yamadayev arrived in Dyshna-Vedeno for another special task: they had to check the information that a gang of Shamil Basayev was spotted in this area. The locality was well known to the special forces, and to Jabrail himself - they were not the first time here, they knew where it was better to stay, which of the locals to keep in touch with, who can be trusted, and who is not worth it. But this time, all knowledge, caution and tactical tricks turned out to be meaningless. The militants have chosen the most reliable method of assassination - an explosive device. It was installed in the house where Jabrail stayed. People from the commander’s inner circle do not doubt that there was a betrayal - the commandos simply could not take such a negligent attitude toward checking the house before spending the night in it. Half an hour after midnight, an explosion broke the silence. The house exploded on Lenin Street. It was in this house that Dzhabrail Yamadayev and several other servicemen slept. Experts found that the explosives were in the sofa on which Yamadayev was sleeping. That night, besides him, a girl died - an employee of the military commandant’s office and four servicemen were injured.
Dzhabrail Yamadayev was laid to rest in Gudermes. At his funeral there were many dignitaries, as well as relatives and numerous friends, associates and colleagues of the deceased hero.
