Dmitry Zhuravlev is a Soviet and Russian actor, director, teacher and professor and reader. The performer was awarded the Stalin Prize for artistic reading. Zhuravlev Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and the People's Artist of the USSR.

Talent development
He was born in the Ukrainian village of Alekseyevka in 1900, on October 11. The family grew six children. The youngest was Dmitry.

Dmitry participated in various concerts, traveled to cities. He recited Pushkin, Blok, Mayakovsky, read the works of Chekhov, Turgenev, Tolstoy.

Reader's career
In 1930, the debut solo performance of Zhuravlev was held at the House of Writers. Listeners enjoyed the voice of the performer and his skill. Subsequently, he read to the public the poems of Yevtushenko, Bagritsky, Ascension.
From the beginning of the reader’s career, the actor became interested in the works of Pasternak and Akhmatova. A year later, the artist held a large recital in the Small Hall of the Tchaikovsky Metropolitan Conservatory.
In 1937, Zhuravlev participated in the First All-Union Reader Competition. He took second place on it. By this time, the reader had already brilliantly played in the most famous performances based on the works of Bulgakov, Gozzi, Schiller, Shakespeare.
In 1937, the actor made his debut in a big movie in the film "Journey to Arzrum." He played the role of Pushkin.
From 1939 to 1986, Dmitry Nikolaevich worked at the State Philharmonic Society of the capital as a consultant and director. He received the title of Honored Artist of the Federation in 1947. In 1949 he became a laureate of the Stalin Prize for outstanding reader skill.
In 1960 Zhuravlev was awarded the title of Honored and People’s Artist. The reader participated in the sixties in the animated films “How One Man Fed Two Generals”, “Left-Handed”, “Go There, I Don't Know Where” and “The Legend of the Evil Giant”, read the text behind the scenes and voiced the characters.
The artist participated in the creation of the paintings “Gooseberry”, “Two Stories” and “The Ballad of Bering and His Friends” in the early seventies. In the film-play based on the work of Two Stories, the reader starred in the title role.
