David Lang - the famous American composer - was born on January 8, 1957 in the United States in the south of California in the city of Los Angeles. He currently resides in New York. Repeatedly received various awards and awards, in particular, he is the composer of the year (2013) in the United States, in 2008 he won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize, in 2009 - the Grammy Award, was nominated for an Oscar. He is a Jew by religion, he notes that he sided with this faith consciously.
David received his first recognition and award during his student days in 1980, then his career and popularity only grew up. In 1987, Lang, along with Julia Wolfe and Michael Gordon, created the Bang on a Can musical group, which is still popular today, and the three composers who organized it are the artistic directors of the group. The group performs in the style of modern classical music.

Creative education
David received his first education at Stanford University, graduating with a bachelor's degree. Then Lang went to graduate school at Iowa University. According to him, he went there because of the teacher Martin Jenny, who had previously met on his life path and became for him a kind of role model. David admits that this was one of the most correct decisions in his life. David didn’t stop studying at the University of Iowa, but continued to study further, enrolling at Yale University, where he received a doctorate in musical arts in 1989.
Famous people such as Henri Lazaroff, Lou Harrison, Richard Herwig, Jacob Druckman, Hans Werner Hentze and Martin Bresnik became his mentors in Yale.
