Dax Sheprad was born in 1975 in the small town of Milford, Michigan. The father left the family when his son was only three years old, and from that moment Dex grew up with his stepfathers - there were several of them. Mom worked in the auto industry, Dex helped her from an early age.
After school, the young man became interested in improvisation theater and stand-up. To become a professional comedian, he enrolled in the school of the Groundlings group, where he studied improvisation.
At the same time he studied at college, then at the University of California, where he received an anthropologist degree.
Carier start
After moving to Los Angeles in 1996, Shepard began performing as an actor and comedian, playing small roles. And only after seven years he was taken to the show "The Shock", where he made friends with the host Ashton Kutcher and then through him found an agent. For almost eight years he was waiting for his first role, and in 2004 he was approved for one of the main roles in the comedy film "Three in a Canoe." Critics smashed the film to smithereens, and the audience was greeted very friendly.
A year later, Shepard waited for the role of an astronaut in the blockbuster Zatura: A Space Adventure. This film has become a cult, it was praised by both critics and viewers.
Two years later, Dax starred in several films: the satirical comedy "Idiocracy" (2005), the romantic comedy "Date of My Dreams" (2006), the crime comedy "Go to Jail" (2006).
Career heyday
Previous roles helped Dax Shepard gain experience, he became a prominent figure in the movie, and in 2008 received the main role in the film "Oh, Mommies." This film made him even more famous, and his career, as they say, "went uphill." Soon, viewers saw him in one of the main roles in the romantic film Once Upon a Time in Rome, then in the series Parents and in the romantic film Free Ticket.
Director's work
In subsequent years, Shepard devoted himself to directing: he shot the picture "Fraternal Justice". The actor wrote the script for the film and put it together with the director David Palmer. This was a pseudo-documentary film about an actor-comedian, and Shepard played a major role in it. The film was not successful, but soon another Shepard's directorial work appeared - the comedy action movie “Grab and Run, ” which was a great success. In 2017, his new work appeared: California Road Patrol.
Shepard's plans include new directorial work: a film about Scooby-Doo and the cartoon “Addams Family”.
