Carols are referred to Russian-folklore, and it also means special dishes, which are treated to performers of these tunes. Baked small buns made from fresh rye dough with various seasonings, spreads, liqueurs and fillings.
By the way, this treat is very common in Finland. Serve them there, as a snack, to the first or second dish or to coffee at breakfast. Surprisingly, in Finland this dish is considered a national dish and called it wickets. Moreover, in different regions of this country, they are prepared in different ways. Only the dough remains unchanged - fresh from rye flour.
Cooking Christmas carols is entertaining, perhaps this is due to the general atmosphere of the holiday. It is not difficult to surprise and delight your relatives and friends with this treat, and most importantly it will not take you much time. To prepare it, you will need 1 cup of milk (yogurt, water), 2 cups of rye flour, a little salt. Very often, rye flour is mixed with wheat in equal proportions to make the buns softer and more fragrant. From these ingredients, you need to knead the dough and leave it for 30-40 minutes, covered with a napkin or paper towel. After that, the dough is rolled into a bundle and cut into equal small pieces. Now you can roll thin cakes of various shapes: triangular, oval or round. Next, any filling is laid out, the tips of the dough are bent and the food is sent for baking in a preheated oven. Carols are prepared at a temperature of 200-220 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Hot baked buns are greased with melted or butter with sour cream. Sweet carols are served with milk, mead or tea. This treat treat all relatives, friends and relatives, telling the story of the occurrence of this treat. Perhaps, over time, this tradition will revive.
