The word "hype" suddenly became so fashionable that it began to be used everywhere - in everyday speech, advertising, business, headlines in media articles. Moreover, its meaning is so vague that sometimes this word sounds completely inappropriate. We will talk about what hype is, and what is the real meaning of this word.
Hype is a neologism of English origin. The word hype in translation from English slang means annoying advertising, public relations, artificially inflated hype, hype, deception. Accordingly, hyping means actively moving something to the masses, popularizing it, hyping is a noisy advertising campaign, and the excited state of the crowd awaiting the appearance of some fashionable novelty is called hyptrain.
However, in Russian, the word hype and the word forms formed from it have acquired a broader meaning. At first, they began to call hype any hype, for example, violent correspondence that erupted in the social network under a post or a discussion on the Internet on a resonant topic. And then it came to the point that the word began to be used without any special meaning, when the speaker simply wants to show that he is in trend. They also say “have a good night” when it comes to some kind of party. This is not entirely correct, and the speaker does not quite understand what hype is.
“High fashion” is a youth movement oriented towards the purchase of expensive branded clothing. At the same time, many people want to buy a "hype gear" (as this clothing is called on slang), and not everyone can afford it. Therefore, the Internet was filled with various tips and suggestions where you can buy fakes to look fashionable. Hype style is often complemented by tattoos, in this fashion it is beautiful to be thin.
By the way, in business there is, for example, the term "hype project". But this concept has nothing to do with the hype mentioned above. It came from another word - hyip, which means a highly profitable investment program, where income is provided by attracting new participants. Such a business is also called financial pyramids. About those who invest in such projects, they also say that they "hype", but this is a completely different story.
