Being a citizen of a particular state, a person can count on social support of himself and his family members, on protection, on ensuring the rights to work, freedom and equality of members of society. Moreover, each citizen is obliged to comply with the laws of the state, accept the requirements of the authorities in relation to citizens and fulfill their civic duty. Citizens participate in elections of power, in referenda to identify citizenship regarding certain laws and political projects. In turn, the state provides the opportunity and the right to education, medical care, social guarantees, payments and support to citizens. The relationship between the citizen and the state is usually two-way. The state guarantees the rights and freedoms prescribed in the Constitution, protects citizens and their property from illegal actions and violence, and provides protection to their citizens who are abroad. A citizen, for his part, is obliged to comply with state laws, to help strengthen the state and increase its authority. Citizenship is usually obtained at the place of birth, nationality or citizenship of the parents. Also, citizenship can be determined by special request or merit of a particular person. It is the totality of the rights and obligations of a citizen in relation to the state that determines his civil status. This status differs from stateless persons or foreigners. Mutual rights and duties of a citizen and the state allow the former to be protected not only in the territory of his country, but also to count on support in other countries, and to the latter - he receives a political voice in support of the legislative and political system, tax fees, duties and the formation of the state budget, maintaining the economy. The state is obliged to take into account the problems, wishes and appeals of its citizens in order to maintain political and economic stability in the country.
